Expertise and quality of model making at the service of a passion
Description
Renault-Alpine arrives to Le Mans in 1977 with high expectations of victories. The duel with Porsche, winner in 1976 is announced.
For the second consecutive year, Patrick Depailler takes pole position. But Jacques Lafitte who shares the car #8 with him is on the start grid. After the retirement of the A442 car number 9 of Jabouille in the 19th hour racing, the A442 car number 8 driven by Lafitte is the only one able to save the victory or a podium. Laffite's car clocks in 6 minutes behind Porsche 936 car number 4 of Jürgen Barth. When Depailler takes back the steering wheel to his team-mate he drives fast and the engine does not resist.
