The Porsche 911 EC #38, equipped with a 2.4 L flat-6 engine, was entered in the 1971 24 Hours of Le Mans by drivers René Mazzia and Jürgen Barth. Competing in the GT+2.0 category, the car finished 8th overall and 2nd in its class, completing 303 laps. This was an impressive achievement for a production-based model in one of the world’s most grueling endurance races. Jürgen Barth would later become a key figure at Porsche, winning Le Mans in 1977.
