The Alfa Romeo Autotutto debuted at the 1954 Turin Motor Show, showcasing an innovative design, independent 4-wheel suspension, a mid-engine layout, and front-wheel drive. This setup lowered the loading bay floor, providing easier cargo access and more load space, both key factors in its success.

It shared the Giulietta’s engine line, featuring a 1.3-litre, double camshaft, gasoline-powered straight-four engine, delivering 35 CV and a top speed of 97 kph. Another option was a Roots-type two-cylinder, two-stroke supercharged engine by AVL in Austria, offering 30 CV and a maximum speed of 75 kph (46 mph).

The Romeo 2, introduced in 1957/58, kept the design largely unchanged. It featured convenient access to the loading area through a large rear door and a side door on the passenger side. These vans were commonly used by government departments for ambulances, police, and military vehicles.

For this release, we had several appealing options but stayed true to our competitive spirit by selecting this 1961 Autotutto Romeo 2, recently restored in a vibrant rosso corsa.

Produced in Italy as a minibus, it served the Protezione Civile, a government agency responsible for disaster relief. These vehicles often led hard lives, which is why few have survived. Thanks to a meticulous restoration, we can still enjoy this functional and user-friendly 1950s design today.
