Description

The Citroën Type H van was used across many sectors and by a wide range of tradespeople. It was also commonly used to deliver farm products, with the trailer providing extra capacity for transporting goods to customers or to town markets. The Type H could carry up to 1,200 kg of cargo with a volume of 7.3 m³. It was designed by Pierre Franchiset and owes its name, “H”, to the fact that it was the eighth prototype of its kind developed by Citroën—H also being the eighth letter of the alphabet.

First introduced to the public in 1947, the Type H remained in production for 34 years, with over 473,000 units built. Farmers and many other professionals relied on the Citroën HY for daily use, as there was always something to haul—whether wood, paving stones, hedge or lawn trimmings, tools, or machinery. The trailer could be towed by vans or tractors, making it a practical solution for everyday needs.

Tie-down hooks on the sides allowed loads to be secured with ropes or straps. With the right side panels and a rear gate, the trailer could quickly be transformed into a reliable utility vehicle.
