Expertise and quality of model making at the service of a passion
Description
Only 38 cars at the start of the 59th edition of LeMans 24 Hours. Peugeot’s come back to Le Mans in 1991, officially absent since 1926 is an event for the last victory of Renault Alpine A442 in 1978.
The 2 Peugeot 905 with futuristic and pure lines create the illusion during few hours until mechanical problems happen on each of them.
Team No. 5 Philippe Alliot – Jean-Pierre Jabouille & Mauro Baldi takes pole and lead in the race, it is also the first car to give up after 22 laps.
As for Keke Rosberg’s No. 6, he gives up at 21h46 when his gearbox blocks at the dead point and does not even plan to reset it manually to return to the pit and perhaps continue the race.
The Peugeot adventure lasts 6 hours, not more.
