The Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 was the top model of the S-Class W 109 model series and was produced between 1967 and 1972. Although it was not originally intended for racing, the 6.3 was soon used in the touring car championships. With the so-called "red sow", the AMG drove to class victory in the 24-hour race at Spa in 1971 and finished second overall.
