Renault 5 makes its appearance at the beginning of the 70s and allows Renault to position for the first time on the market of the mini. The small car knows moreover an immediate popular success. Four versions follow one another before the birth of Alpine Renault 5 called Renault 5 Gordini in UK.

Alpine Renault 5 appears to the Paris show in March, 1976. Because of the oil crisis of 1974, the small sports cars are on the roll. It is recognizable in its specific decoration “A5” on sides, on the tailboard and on the nose of the hood. The black bumpers with front spoiler and anti fog projectors were incorporated, the outside rear-view mirror in the shape of shell and wheel rims type Gordini's sheet steel are so many novelties which differentiate from the previous versions.

The inside of the 5TS is resumed with complete seats perforated in their top to arrange a little of visibility to the passengers installed in the back and new three branches black steering wheel, made of leather is added and the gearshift is on the floor to confirm the sportsmanship of the version.
The breading of gutter and the one of the joint of windscreen are chrome-plated on the first models.

The car is on sale in five different colors: black or grey metal with red lines, Alpine blue with silver lines or lively red or green garden with black lines.
