Description

Numbered edition limited to 400 units.

CJ58-KIT: includes the basic parts needed to build an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Zagato. Unpainted body and resin components, PVC windshield, plastic wheels, rubber tires, white metal chromed and photo-etched parts, water-slide decals, as well as the main mechanical components.
Note: the engine, pickup guide, and wires are not included.

The official Sprint Zagato was developed on the short-wheelbase Sprint Speciale chassis, 2250 mm instead of the standard Sprint’s 2380 mm, giving rise to a very compact coupé with rounded lines. The engine also came from the SS, delivering a reliable 100 hp at 6500 rpm. However, many Italian tuners, such as Conrero, were able to extract around 130 hp from the small 1300 cc engine.

About two hundred customers purchased one and immediately entered all kinds of competitions. The model particularly distinguished itself in road and mountain events thanks to its light weight and agility, regularly achieving excellent results in its class and, at times, overall victories against cars with larger engines.

The Coupe des Alpes, also known as the Alpine Rally, was one of the most prestigious events of the 1950s and 1960s. It combined rallying and endurance over a long route crossing several countries and tackling some of Europe’s most demanding mountain passes, such as Stelvio, Galibier, and Cortina d’Ampezzo.

The favorites were the powerful Austin Healey 3000s, winners of the previous two editions. However, none of the four entered cars managed to finish the race. Jean Rolland then battled for victory with Rauno Aaltonen’s Mini Cooper, the two works Ford Cortinas, and René Trautmann’s Citroën DS 19.
