After two successful models—the AJ-01 Mercedes-Benz 170 SD and the AJ-02 Alfa Romeo “Autotutto”—we’re proud to present the third release in our Slot Classic Transport line: this beautiful Ford Thames featuring the iconic “Cooper Car Company” livery.

Numbered and limited edition to 200 units.

This versatile utility vehicle first rolled off the production line in 1938 at the well-established Dagenham factory, located on the banks of the River Thames. It was originally designed as a van or light commercial vehicle, combining practicality and affordability with a distinctive style, and capable of carrying loads of up to 500 kg.

The engine was positioned beside and slightly to the right of the driver’s seat, allowing for maximum use of the cargo space. It featured a small yet durable 1175 cc, 30 hp 4-cylinder engine built for longevity rather than speed, with a top speed of just over 60 km/h.

Despite being a transport vehicle, it has a certain charm. Compact and sturdy, it features a clean, understated design with a particularly attractive grille that is slim and elegant. Rounded mudguards and prominent headlights enhance its distinctive and functional appearance, making it stand out among cargo vehicles.

It even made appearances at motorsport events, notably serving as a support and assistance vehicle for the Cooper Car Company racing team in the late 1950s.
