The Porsche 914-6 GT was the competition version of the 914-6, emerged in 1969 as a result of a collaboration between Porsche and Volkswagen. The main difference on the civil 914-6 was a 2.0-liter engine and the widening of the front and rear wheel arches to accommodate rims and tires of larger diameter and width.

The Porsche 914-6 GT has been reproduced in the hard 24 hours of Le Mans in 1970 with the vehicle we presented, the number 40 of the Établissement Sonauto team, piloted by Claude Ballot-Léna and Guy Chasseuil.

After a demanding competition where the rain caused havoc, only eight cars finished the race, of which six were Porsche. The 914-6 GT No. 40 finished sixth overall and first in the GTS category, preceded only by prototype racing cars such as the V12 Ferrari 512S and the Flat-12 Porsche 917K.

The Porsche 914-6 GT reaped great triumphs in the most important endurance competitions of the early 70s, such as the Targa Florio, the Monte Carlo Rally or the IMSA championship.
