Expertise and quality of model making at the service of a passion
Description
Born at the end of the 70s, the Talbot Sunbeam was a cutting-edge model. Originally sold as Chrysler, it did not take long in becoming the leading model of a new brand, Talbot, the result of the commercial redesign of the American giant in Europe. At a time when front-wheel drive was clearly prevalent on the streets and in the European rallies, the Sunbeam, an eminently popular model, opted for propulsion. In parallel, commissioned a competition version from Lotus, which created a brutal machine which benefited from a stratospheric 250 HP engine. The Sunbeam surprised the leading benchmarks of that time at the rallies: the Fiat Abarth 131 and the Ford Escort RS, and it was triumphant at the World Constructors´ Championship in 1981. The model that we have reproduced is the hot rod of the Brits Russell Brookes and Peter Bryant, who took the beautiful Sunbeam sponsored by Andrews to fourth place in the 1980 RAC Rally. A race which would end up being won by, by the way, another Sunbeam, that of the Finn Henri Toivonen.
