Expertise and quality of model making at the service of a passion
Description
The Lola T280-T290 series is a range of racing cars developed by Lola Racing Cars in the 1970s. Entered in sports car championships in the prototype category from 1972 onwards, they competed in the three-liter and two-liter classes, respectively.
The Lola T280, designed for Group 6 competitions, was equipped with a 3,000 cm³ engine developing 450 horsepower for a weight of only 600 kg. Its aluminum monocoque chassis and fiberglass body provided both lightness and performance.
Its victory at the 4 Hours of Le Mans in March 1972 already demonstrated its potential for the prestigious 24 Hours, scheduled for June. Unfortunately, during this race, Jo Bonnier was fatally injured in an accident in the morning while he was in third position.
The 1/32 scale NSR replica has been designed to rank at the top of the "Classic" category. Thanks to technical and innovative solutions, it offers a perfect balance between performance and historical heritage.
The Lola T280/290 model features a Sidewinder configuration and integrates the standard components of the Classic range.
The chassis of the Lola has been completely redesigned.
The structure integrates modified reinforcements, allowing for better chassis flexibility while reducing weight by 20%, thus improving performance.
The sides and front have been lightened while retaining crossbars to facilitate the possible addition of extra ballast.
The rear frame structure has been resized and reinforced, ensuring better cornering performance.
The chassis has been completely redesigned in the contact area with the motor mount, reducing transverse movements and improving chassis fluidity.
For the first time on a classic model, the weight of the body is evenly distributed around the entire perimeter of the chassis.
The nose and sides remain in permanent contact with the chassis, thus offering optimal stability.
This design also allows for the widest chassis in the Classic range, with a width of 62 mm for the Lola’s sides, compared to 58 mm for the Porsche 908.
The flexibility of the body has been significantly improved thanks to a strategically designed component fixing system and a meticulously studied design.
The total weight of the fully assembled and painted Lola body, in race-ready configuration and "short tail" version, is only 13 grams.
The shapes, dimensions, and center of gravity of the Lola ensure impeccable performance.
In the image above, you can see in blue that the Lola T280/290 is noticeably lower than its direct competitor, the NSR Porsche 908, already known for its speed.
The Lola T280/290 took part in iconic races of the 1970s, such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Targa Florio, Daytona, and many more.
The accuracy of the liveries, combined with Italian manufacturing quality, makes the NSR replica a true collector's piece, even from a purely modeling perspective.
The technical studies and developments applied to the Lola T280/290 transform this vintage model into an extreme competition slot car, designed and manufactured to WIN in the most prestigious Classic category races.
